(THE) CATHY KEISTER SPIRIT OF EXCELLENCE AWARD

This award was created to honor past AVVA Vice-President Cathy Keister, who passed away March 26, 2016 while in office. This award is the second highest achievement award in Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America, second only to the President's Commendation Medal.

Cathy was devoted and loyal to her own chapter and yet was the first one to assist any chapter that may have a need. She was most admired for her ability to mentor others, her standard of ethics and excellence, and the tenacity to take on a cause greater than herself.

This award may be presented to either a chapter or an individual, based on who is nominated, and how well they fit the criteria.  The details of how the award is determined can be found in the Policy and Procedure Manual, Section 11.XII. The criteria that will be used to determine who will be chosen to receive this award are listed on the nomination form.

Anyone can nominate an AVVA member for this award. VVA members as well as AVVA members can make a nomination. Even members of the nominee's community may make a nomination. Think about all of the AVVA members that you know work hard and are admirable in a significant way, and take the time to nominate them. We have many people who really should be recognized. Current members of the National Board of Directors cannot be nominated.
